To His Excellency, the Lord High Treasurer
William Cecil, Baron Burghley

Herewith do I make a final accounting in the matter of Her Royal Majesty’s proclamation, and the goods provided by the merchants of the realm. The final preparations for the hunt have been completed with a Faire now in progress for the month of September. In addition to the many fine goods set for sale at the Faire, there are free trinkets and prizes strewn about the Faire (disguised as acorns!) for the clever and attentive fairgoers to find.

A total of 72 craftspeople have place goods of considerable quality in their shops across the realm in hidden gargoyle objects for the amusement of Her Majesty’s subjects to search out. Having earlier provided to you illustrations of some of those goods, I attach more illustrations from those merchants who have seen fit to provide them to our care.

Having now fully discharged those duties in the matter with which I was tasked, I shall now repair to the Faire and hunt for some jolly fun.

Your most humble servant,
Taightphiste Moneypenny. Clerk of the Ledger

To Her Royal Majesty
Elizabeth R.

If it may please Your Royal Majesty, I am sorry to trouble you so often as I do, but I would neglect my duty were I not to make known to you the most excellent work of Masters Perryn Peterson, Mike Olbracht, and Wyvern Dryke, and the many merchants of Your Realm to execute your Royal Writ for a Faire and Hunt.

Docks at Mieville Shelley

Faire visitors will arrive at the docks of Mieville Shelley where, as you will see from the Royal Engraver’s print enclosed herewith, the area is surrounded by shops selling all manner of goods. It is arranged that as visitors enter the Faire through the main gates, they shall receive instruction on completing the grand hunt across the realm as well as how to search for small treasures hidden around the Faire itself. Beyond the gates stretch merchant stalls, wagons and tents as well as recreations for the people.

Faire Entertainments

In sum, it is an event, if I might be so bold as to say … fit for a Queen.

Octauo et uicensimo Augusto.
Your Majesty’s at commandment, W. Cecil, Lord High Treasurer

By the Queene
Elizabeth R.

Whereas My subjects clamor for both entertainment and the finest clothing, furnishings, and other goods, and our Merchants produce the finest of wares, and  it is Our Royal Will that a Faire shall be held upon the fields of Mieville Shelley from the first day through the last day of September wherein there shall be much mirth and entertainment, and the merchants shall cause their finest wares to be sold.

Our desire is that among the entertainments of the aforesaid Faire, the organizers shall cause small prizes to be hidden in a Minihunt across the Faire grounds for the enjoyment of any who show wit enough to find them.

Hunt Object
Further, We hereby give Our Royal License for a grand Hunt to take place during the same month of September for the enjoyment of Our subjects.  This Hunt shall originate at the Faire grounds and extend to the farthest reaches of Our realm.  Each merchant is ordered to place a gift of quality inside a multi-hued, gargoyle-shaped object, to hide that object on the shop premises, and to provide a clue as to the location of said gargoyle.  Those persons of sufficient wit to decipher the clue and find the hidden object, shall receive the merchant’s most excellent gift.

We have, via Royal Courier, received news from many of our merchants of the fine gifts they intend to bestow upon those who can find them, and the clerks of the Royal Warehouse have tallied and pictured them below for the benefit of any who wish to search them out.
