MYTHS & LEGENDS OF THE RENAISSANCE
Many think of the Renaissance as the birth of science and reason, but it was also an age of romance, myth, and legends. The influx of lost tales from the east as well as the birth of new tales of brave heroes, magic, and love were embraced by the people of the era and made the fortunes of men like William Shakespeare and Christoper Marlowe.
This year's theme, Myths and Legends of the Renaissance gives you and our merchants a chance to explore some of these tales, and mark them with lovely and exquisite creations.

There will be 65 stops in this grid-wide hunt.
You will be searching for the ever elusive Gargoyle pictured below.

There is a sign to join at the landing of the Renaissance Faire
Updated notices will be provided to members as needed, and our intrepid hunters
are always willing to help with hints (in IM, of course).
It's always a good idea to check notices for any updates you may have missed.
You will also receive a notecard listing all the participating shops and their landmarks.
Landmarks will also be included in each gift gargoyle to the subsequent shops.
Hints are NOT provided except in each shop. Look for the hint gargoyle near each landing.

The Fairy Flag of the MacLeods is a Scottish legend that dates from the late middle ages or early Renaissance. It tells the tale of how the Laird of the MacLeods fell in love with the Princess of the Shinning Folk, the fae of the Isle of Skye. After gaining permission from their king to hand-fast with her, he brings her back to Skye as Lady MacLeod. But the king has set a limit on their love of a year and a day, at the end of which time she must return to the land of the fae. When the day arrives, she leaves her love and their son, and returns to her people as she promised. One night, though, all the way in fairyland she hears her son's cries, and returns to comfort him, wrapping him in her magical shawl -- the Fairy Flag. This gift for her son came with a charm that allowed the MacLeods to call for help from the Fairy hosts three times. So far, they have used it twice.
It is still on display in Dunvegan Castle, awaiting its third use.
